Religions and human lives: the believers commitment for peace in Asia
Throughout the XX century, the Asian continent was hit by great violence waves: from one of the greatest WWII tragedy – the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki- to the Khmer dictatorship in Cambodia. Too often, violence and war triumphed over human life respect. In this context, religious men were able to develop different types of resistance to evil and violence. This meeting will focus on the believers fight for human rights, against capital punishment and for environment protection.
Witnesses who survived the Cambodian genocide that the Red Khmer carried out, representatives from the Burma Buddhist world and from the ancient Japanese religions will share their stories.
